Time To Look For Energy Alternatives

With the earth's non-renewable energy resources depleting and global warming climate changes, it is time to look for energy alternatives as a solution. Some of the main alternatives for electricity include solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal and biomass energy.

  1. Solar - sunshine as a power source is a simple ideal system that requires little maintenance. Since Solar is modular, it can be started with a small system and added to as electricity requirement increases.
  2. Wind - wind turbines or windmills have been used for centuries for a source of power. The wind turns the blades which then spins a shaft within the system that drives a generator to produce electricty.
  3. Hydropower - running flowing water as a source has been shown to produce anywhere from 10 to 100 times more power than solar or wind for the same investment.
  4. Geothermal - the heat that is below the earth's surface produces hot water and steam which can power generators to produce electricity.
  5. Biomass - a valuable source of energy since early times using burning wood for cooking food and keeping warm. Although wood is the most common biomass energy, there are other sources which include food crops, grasses, plants, forestry and agricultural waste.

These alternatives have proven to work and are ideal renewable energy solutions.
